The 2027 Fire Goat Year

2027 is a Ding Wei (丁未) year: Yin Fire sitting on the Goat. In feng shui and BaZi it begins at Li Chun on 4 February 2027 and runs until Li Chun on 4 February 2028. Here is what the year is made of, where its difficult directions fall, and how it traditionally meets each of the twelve animals.

What Ding Wei is made of
Every year pairs a heavenly stem with an earthly branch. The stem Ding (丁) is Yin Fire: the candle or lamp rather than the bonfire. The branch Wei (未) is the Goat, a Yin Earth branch that stores traces of Fire and Wood inside it. Fire produces Earth in the five-element cycle, so the stem feeds the branch and the year leans warm, dry and steady.
The sixty-year cycle also gives each pair of years a "sound" element (納音). Bing Wu 2026 and Ding Wei 2027 share Heavenly River Water (天河水), the image of rain falling on parched summer ground. Many practitioners read it as a year when patience and quiet support work better than force.
2027 also falls inside Period 9 (2024–2043) of the Flying Star calendar, a twenty-year span ruled by the 9 star, which is itself linked to Fire. Two Fire-leaning years in a Fire period is why you will see a lot of talk about "balancing" Fire in 2027 readings.

What people usually do: keep the North and West quiet (no drilling, renovation or heavy furniture moves there if you can avoid it), use the Southeast and Northwest for work and activity, and keep the centre of the home clear and bright. Some sources also list the Ox under Punishment, since Ox, Goat and Dog form the "ungrateful" punishment group. Either way, the Ox's clash is the relationship most people pay attention to.
