What hexagram 5 means
Xū shows clouds gathering in the sky before the rain. The rain will come, but not yet. This is waiting with confidence: eating, drinking and keeping calm while the time ripens. Sincere, patient waiting is not wasted time; anxious forcing is.

The two trigrams
The lower trigram, Heaven 乾 (Qián), stands for your inner state and the root of the situation. The upper trigram, Water 坎 (Kǎn), stands for the outer circumstances. In element terms this is Water over Metal. Heaven is the trigram of Kua 6 and Water is the trigram of Kua 1.
